Air: A number of different carriers operate domestic flights within Italy. 

Bus: Buses connect major cities and smaller towns, yet are not always the cheapest option.

Car & Motorcycle: You’ll have to be over 25 and have a valid credit card to hire a vehicle. Italian drivers can make for an eventful experience but the flexibility you get by having your own vehicle is a major draw card.

Boat: The islands are connected by ferry services to the mainland.

Taxi: Economical and found in most cities at train stations.

Metro: Metro’s can be found in Rome, Milan, Naples and Turin.

Train: A fast, affordable and reliable mode of transport.

Italy Weather and Climate

Due to the varied geography of Italy, the climate is somewhat variable.

A Mediterranean climate in the south lends itself to long hot summers where temperatures can reach above 30˚C. Winters are mild and snow is rare especially at the southern tip of Italy and the islands.

Central Italy sees a milder, wetter climate. Summers can see high humidity especially in the cities of Florence, Siena and Rome.

While in the north and mountainous regions temperatures are lower and winters enduring. December to March typically brings cold, harsh winters with heavy snowfall.
