Fly from Athens to Chania, the main carriers are Olympic Airlines, Aegean Airlines and Sky Express. Buses and Taxi’s are available from the airport to take the 14km ride into Chania centre.
Ferries also operate from Athens, from the ferry it is best to taxi to Chania, although if you are lucky there are buses, but you have to wait around to catch one!
The Venetian harbour is an impressive site, and easy to see why it is Chania’s star attraction. Ancient ruins house wonderful restaurants and tavernas with views over the harbour. Simply meander through the narrow streets to take it all in.
Housed in the restored Church of San Salvatore, the Byzantine and Post Byzantine Collection of artefacts is well worth a visit. Immerse yourself in the history of the area.
