Flights operate daily on a number or different airlines. There are no direct flights from New Zealand so the duration depends on what airlines and routing you take.

Air: There is an extensive network of flights covering Spain. 

Bus: Cheaper than the train, there are many links between villages and cities as well as local services.

Car & Motorcycle: Major hire companies operate throughout Spain although you have to be over 21 and have a valid credit card to be eligible to hire.

Boat: Ferries to the Balearic Islands link The Mainland.

Metro: You will find metros in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Bilbao and Seville.

Train: Trains connect cities and are efficient but more expensive than buses.

Spain’s Weather and Climate

Spain’s climate is varied across the country due to its diverse landscape. Southern coastal areas are characterized with a Mediterranean climate. The Meseta with a Continental Climate and the North with a Oceanic Climate. Ideally May, June and September are the best months to visit, although dependent on what you are after, Spain is a year round destination.

The North and North West Spain are the wettest area of Spain and are influenced by the Atlantic, especially in autumn and winter.

Central Spain has generally has hot summers with record highs during the summer and low rainfall with some snow through the winter months.

Southern Spain has long hot summers and and mild winters. Occasionally hot winds can occur from North Africa, although the sea breezes keep them from rising to high.
