Magical Montecorto Villa is a delightfully quirky, rustic house located at the top of the village of Montecorto, with wonderful open views across to the mountains on the other side of the valley. I stayed there in late April and loved it. There are plenty of shady patios and terraces to relax on outside and a small pool, and each of the four bedrooms is has it's own unique character. It's a real home from home, with a cosy, comfortable atmosphere, well stocked bookshelves, TVs, DVDs, a computer and everything you could need in the kitchen. The village is quiet but immaculately kept, with potted plants lining the streets and the sound of running water everywhere, thanks to a fresh water spring, whose source is right behind el Tejar. The countryside in this part of Andalusia is stunning so it's a great base from which to explore the area, but it's equally pleasant to simply stay put and enjoy the peace and quiet.

I've stayed at Magical Montecorto Villa a few times now and each time it gets better. Clean and interesting rooms, great facilities including a really good kitchen, secluded pool and a real no-nonsense broadband connection. But above all the terraces where one can sit for hours with a glass of vino watching the view as the mountains across the valley change colour and almost, it seems, shape. The village, a walk down the hill away from this eyrie, is pretty good too, small shops stocking the essentials a couple of low key and friendly bars and some lovely people, especially the old folk who can give you a real picture of what the countryside is all about. A great place to stay for walking, relaxing and soaking up the atmosphere.

My fiancé and I stayed at Magical Montecorto Villa last December and thoroughly enjoyed our getaway. The house is comfortable, spacious and eclectically decorated with an abundance of exciting books to read. We especially enjoyed relaxing in the sitting room, cozied up next to the fire, while enjoying the beautiful mountain views. We also ventured out on a few local hikes. Even in December, there were some blue sky days to enjoy the outdoors. Be sure to ask the owner about local trails, he's an expert/author on the topic. Walking to town is a breeze as well. We loved taking daily strolls down the cobble stone streets, along the fresh water stream. The town is quaint, yet has a couple of restaurants and shops for groceries, produce and such. If you're not keen to cook, the owner can also arrange a personal chef for you. Cheers!
