Our experience here was first-rate. We were two couples---it would be fine for three couples or a large family. The house is clean, all normal amenities supplied. Rooms well furnished, beautiful views in all directions. There are plenty of stores within a few miles should you want to cook. The nearest town is about 5 kilometers--Castiglione del Lago is a charming hill town with excellent non-touristy shops and restaurants. We basically chose a different hill-town each day and explored Umbria and a bit of Southern Tuscany. It was the perfect location for Todi, Sienna, Pienza, Gubbio, and many other towns, all within an hour or a bit more. The owner was very helpful with restaurant suggestions although it is hard to go wrong in the small hill towns all over Umbria. The owner was also helpful in any question we had. We weren't there in the heat of summer so we can't vouch for the pool, but it looked inviting. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone who wants a great centrally located place from which to explore either Umbria or Tuscany. I could also see it as a great place to have a small family reunion, although the drive from either Rome or Pisa might be a bit much for kids, after the flight. We flew into Rome, and the drive--very easy--was about two and one-half hours. All advertising and photos were absolutely accurate except that no photo can capture the charm of the countryside in full. Go to Umbria before it is as touristy as Tuscany, and this is a great starting point.

We stayed at this beautiful farmhouse in April of 2012, and had a wonderful experience! My husband and I brought our two girls, aged 2 and 4, and his grandmother. The house had more than enough space, was well equipped for cooking, and had everything we needed to enjoy ourselves. We rented a car~which is a must to easily see the area. We took many day trips...drove to Sienna, Montepulciano, Cortona, Florence and many others! One day we easily took the train from Castiglione del Lago to Rome. It was great to have a house with a kitchen as a home base for exploring the beautiful area. We had a wonderful vacation and would love to return again someday. The host was very kind and helpful~this place is great!

We spent two blissful weeks at this villa and found it the perfect place to relax by the pool, enjoy the views and also a great base for visiting wonderful hilltop towns. My husband and I stayed with our three children (6,5 & 2) and my inlaws. The house sparkling on arrival and was plenty big enough for us all - It was great for our set up and could easily fit two families. The kitchen was well equipped, including sharp knives (often not the case with a holiday let!). The pool was fantastic - deep enough for jumping in with a shallower bit at both ends with graduating steps at the end closest to the house. My 5 year old learnt to swim unaided and her brother spent hours each day entertaining themselves with "jumping in" competitions. The local water park in Tavernalle is definitely worth a visit if travelling with children. Cortona, Montepulciano, Paciano, Panicale and of course Castigliano del Lago are all worth visiting. Wonderful views, interesting alleys to explore and of course delicious ice ream to eat. All in all a hugely successful holiday - I'd highly recommend it!

If you are looking for an authentic farmhouse experience with a stunning villa and beautiful scenery all around then look no further. The house is magnificent and provides a great base for day trips to many local towns. We stayed as a group of 6, 4 adults and 2 children for one week and the accommodation was brilliant. The photos on this site are a true representation of the house. It is thoughtfully decorated with all the necessary items for your stay. Our host was extremely friendly and helpful and even met us at a location and drove us to the house! During our stay we enjoyed a scrumptious dinner cooked for us by two lovely ladies for my 40th birthday, arranged by the host. This was indeed a place to relax!
