Young couple. We stayed for a few days and there is nothing we can complain about! The location on the island is perfect: town 10min driving, on the good side of the island for sunsets ( and less wind!!), beautiful beach in front with a jetty very close (good spot for fishing;)). Also good spot for snorkeling 5 min driving and close from nice walking track. The hotel it self has been made with taste and with the organisation of the bungalows we felt like if we had all the hotel for ourself! The room are spacious, kitchen full equipped and the open-space bathroom is ...magic;) All bungalows have ocean view! The bonus: an incredibly tasty plate of local grown fresh fruits with also toast butter milk cereal for the breakfast was waiting for us in the fridge! The owners are a very nice couple from new zealand, very welcoming and even arrange us a visit to the fruit plantation!

So it's the first time we have stayed on the western side of the island. It's a very different experience than the Muri side. For example it's quite a bit noisier with the reef right there and there is pretty much no swimming in the sea. However that did not take anything away from this idyllic venue for kicking back with privacy and beautiful surroundings. And the pool, though being quite far back, is perfect for cooling off. Firstly the units were SPOTLESS! Very well appointed and all with very nice decor and view. We were in the back but I personally didn't feel we were missing out on beach time. The water front deck and gazebo were lovely to sit, drink and eat at. The deck chairs on the beach are really uncomfortable so we took the pads off our deck chairs outside our room which made them quite a bit better. Staff..superb. Nothing was a problem. I found the geckos in the rooms incredibly annoying as the walls are bamboo so you can hear the little buggers scurrying around in the night. But that is me being pedantic and a light sleeper. Location to town is brilliant but personally I wouldn't bother with the bus as it takes FOREVER and is often too full to stop, rent a car or bike, they are so cheap really. We were there 9 days, it cost $100 to fill up the tank at the end and we went round island a couple times a day. Ooo, the shower water is luke warm if you shower past 9am, go figure. I found out one day that if you shower at 7am it's hot! The rooms have everything you need for self catering and the arrival breakfast is fine. I don't think you'll be disappointed with this. We have stayed at the little polynesia and the pacific resort, for the money we felt this was exceptional. Walk to your right and you'll come to Waterline Bar. Terrible food but excellent cocktails. We tried so many restaurants on the island and the best meal we had was up the road at the Windjammer...omg the lamb and spinach ravioli were outstanding! But not a lot of ambience. Best breakfast and coffee and no cues, LBV in town, not Muri as that is so busy. Best raw fish, the Tahitian Cafe, quite hard to find but little further out of town from LBV on right, get the raw fish platter. Best lunch, Moko's caravan...yummy! And lastly the Vaima is good fun and great atmosphere.
