Air: Australia is vast and air travel may be necessary. Qantas is the national carrier but there are also smaller budget airlines that operate between most major towns and cities.
Bus: Extensive and cheap although having so much area to cover, travel times can be long.
Car & Motorcycle: A popular choice is to hire or buy your own vehicle. There are both major international and smaller hire places.
Train: No cheaper or faster than other modes of transport. However many of the journeys are some of the best rail journey’s in the world.
Brisbane: Australia’s third largest city and a hugely popular tourist destination. Cityscapes, glorious beaches and an abundance of fine eateries ‘Brissie’ is just getting better and better.
Carins: It is not hard to see why Cairns is such a popular tourist town. The lush tropical beaches combined with the Great Barrier Reef make Cairns a must stop destination.
Melbourne: Filled with vibrancy and character Melbourne is multi cultural and cutting edge.
Sydney: A stunning city with beautiful beaches, a glamorous city and diversity aplenty. With something for everyone Sydney has everything you need for the perfect break.
Australia is in the southern hemisphere so has seasons opposite to those in Europe and North America. Spring to summer (October to March) is warm or hot everywhere, tropical in the north, and warm to hot in the south. Autumn to winter (April to September) Northern and central Australia have clear warm days and cool nights; the south has cool days with occasional rain but still plenty of sun. Drought is prevalent with southeast Queensland, Victoria and South Australia all badly affected.
